Although I'm relatively new to wood turning, I've been playing with wood virtually all my life. I started as a kid with a couple 2x4's and a hammer and nails, I've built furniture, customized boats and yachts, and spent a few years as a woodcarver. Woodturning to me is like being a kid again, on Christmas morning. Cutting into a new piece of wood is like opening a present... you never know what kind of treasure you'll find inside. Often the grain, color and texture of a piece will dictate its final form. I enjoy a wide variety of turning challenges, but making lidded boxes is probably my favorite.
