SVW Member Shop:
Rich Johnson - San Jose
Location and Size -
Located in the foothills of San Jose just below Alum Rock Park, This shop started out as a three-car carport. After the conversion this shop / studio was set up as a two bay woodturning studio for Stubby 750 lathes.

Space -
The studio has about 1000 sq. feet. Full size cabinets cover two of the walls for family and shop storage. There is a two-fixture restroom located inside the space.
Each turning Bay has 110vac & 220vac power with full dust collection provided by a 2hp Penn State Cyclone dust collector. Sharpening station is located as close as possible. The tool racks are with in arms reach
There is an overhead room dust extractor and a solar ceiling dust extractor to help with the fine dust.
The wood floor is particleboard screwed to plywood on top of the cement.
There are two 27 in. monitors set up for demonstration viewing. The two cameras are aimed for top and side viewing. Ports are available to hook up laptops.
Equipment -
The studio is equipped with a treasure trove to woodturning tools and equipment. The centerpiece of this studio is the Stubby 750 lathe. The lathe was powder coated Red for Rich, opting to forgo the original black.
